Overview

The mountains behind Sharm are empty in a way that is difficult to convey until you are out in them. This evening trip runs a quad convoy about twelve kilometres into the desert, stopping at a ridge for the sunset over the Sinai range, then continues to a Bedouin camp for a short camel ride and dinner.

Dinner is a barbecue — chicken, kofta, rice, salads and flat bread baked on a dome griddle — followed by tea brewed on the fire and a stargazing session with a telescope and a guide who can actually name what you are looking at. Sinai has almost no light pollution and the Milky Way is plainly visible most of the year.
