Will I need a visa for Egypt?

Accepted Answer

Most visitors do. A tourist visa is $25 and valid for 30 days; buy it on arrival at any of Egypt's international airports, or online beforehand at visa2egypt.gov.eg. If you would rather not queue, our handling service buys and fixes the visa for you before immigration — $40 per person, fee included.

Is it safe to travel in Egypt?

Yes, in the places we work. Around 15 million people visit Egypt each year, and violent crime against visitors is very rare. Like every government advisory, we stay out of North Sinai and the border areas altogether. The real risks are the roads and the heat, and a private driver plus an early start takes care of both.

What time of year is best?

Accepted Answer

For the monuments, October to April, when Cairo, Luxor and Aswan are all comfortable. The Red Sea is good in any month. Upper Egypt is very hot in summer (40–45°C), but that is when prices are lowest and the sites are nearly empty.

Do you collect me from my hotel?

Accepted Answer

On every tour, from any hotel, apartment or Nile cruise mooring in the city the tour starts from. Your driver waits in the lobby holding a sign with your name. If you are staying outside the usual area, we can still collect you — the price is given when you book.

Question 5

Can I pay in cash when I arrive?

Accepted Answer

On most day tours and transfers, yes: book online without paying, then pay your guide or driver in cash when the service begins — in USD, EUR, GBP or EGP. Multi-day holidays and Nile cruises need a payment to secure your place.

What if I need to cancel?

Accepted Answer

Day tours cancel free, with a full refund, up to 24 hours before they start; transfers up to 12 hours before. Multi-day holidays and Nile cruises have a sliding scale, set out on our cancellation policy page. And if we cancel, for whatever reason, you are refunded in full with nothing deducted.

Are the guides licensed?

All of them. Each guide has a degree in Egyptology or archaeology and a licence from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism. Between them they cover English, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian and Japanese — let us know your language when you book.

Question 8

What if my flight is late?

Accepted Answer

Nothing changes for you. Give us your flight number when you book; a delayed flight never adds a waiting charge. If a delay cuts into a tour, we shorten it, move it or rebook it at no cost.

Can you handle special diets?

Accepted Answer

Yes — vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher-style, gluten-free and allergies. Tell us when you book and we let the restaurants know ahead of time. Our food tour has a complete vegetarian version at no extra charge.

How much do people tip?

Accepted Answer

Tipping is up to you, though it is a real part of what guides and drivers earn. If you were happy, around $10–15 a day for a guide and $5–10 for a driver is usual — per group, not per person. Keep some 10 and 20 EGP notes for site staff and toilet attendants.

Are children welcome?

On every tour. Under-6s go free on most tours, and children aged 6–11 pay the reduced child price shown at checkout. Child seats are free if you ask for them, and guides adapt the pace and the stories for younger travellers.

Can wheelchair users join?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the tour. The Grand Egyptian Museum, the Nile dinner cruise and most transfers are fully accessible, and Giza is partly accessible with help. The Valley of the Kings, Saqqara and Abu Simbel have steps and uneven ground. Tell us what you need and we will be straight with you about what works.

Can you tailor a trip for me?

Yes — much of what we arrange is made to measure. Fill in the Create Your Trip form, or send us your dates, interests and budget on WhatsApp, and you will usually have a full itinerary and price within a few hours.

What currency will my card be charged in?

Accepted Answer

Prices are set in US dollars, and you can view them converted into EUR, GBP, EGP, SAR or AED. Card payments are charged in Egyptian pounds — the dollar total converted at the rate shown at checkout — because that is the currency our payment provider settles in. Your bank may apply its own exchange rate.

How does the voucher work?

As soon as your booking is confirmed we email you a link to your voucher, with a QR code, your booking reference, the meeting point, your guide's phone number and our 24-hour emergency number. Open it on your phone or print it — either is fine.
