Siwa & Western Desert tours & day trips

Eight hours inland from the Mediterranean coast, Siwa Oasis is nearer Libya than Cairo and has a Berber language of its own. Alexander the Great travelled here to ask the Oracle of Amun a question, and the ruins of that temple can still be climbed. Around the oasis are the mud-brick fortress of Shali, hot and cold springs, salt lakes so dense you float, and the Great Sand Sea beyond. Return through Bahariya across the Black and White Deserts, where the wind has carved the chalk into shapes that glow under the stars.
