Overview

The Nile Pharaoh is the boat people photograph from the bridges: a broad, low hull dressed as a pharaonic barge, lit gold from stem to stern once the sun is down. Inside it is a proper floating restaurant, with tables on two levels and windows the length of both.

Dinner is an open buffet — Egyptian mezze and grills alongside international mains, a carving station and a dessert table — served through the first hour while the boat works upriver past Zamalek. The programme follows: a live band on oud and tabla, a belly-dance set, and the Tanoura, the whirling Sufi dance performed in a skirt lit from inside.

Two hours on the water, back at the same mooring. Ask for a window table when you book and it costs nothing extra.
