Overview
A long but carefully paced day takes in everything most people come to Luxor to see. Cross to the west bank at daybreak for the Valley of the Kings while it is still cool, then Hatshepsut's terraces and the Colossi of Memnon, before lunch beside the Nile.
In the afternoon you are on the east bank: the hypostyle hall at Karnak, the sacred lake and the obelisks, and finally Luxor Temple as the sun sets and the lights come on. It adds up to about ten hours, but with your own car and driver you rest between sites instead of waiting for a group.
