Overview

Every other boat on this river is designed to be slow. This one is not. The jet car is a small powered craft run on a cordoned stretch of water off the Giza bank, with an instructor alongside and a fifteen-minute run once you have had the briefing.

It takes about five minutes to learn and no experience at all. You sit low, the spray comes over the bow, and Cairo goes past considerably faster than anyone intended it to. Teenagers love it; so, reliably, does the parent who claimed they were only watching.

Life jacket and instruction are included and non-negotiable. Minimum age is twelve, and under-eighteens ride with an instructor.

Important information

  • Wear comfortable closed shoes — most sites have uneven stone ground.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen; shade is limited at open-air sites.
  • Modest dress is required for mosques and churches: shoulders and knees covered.
  • Photography is free at most sites; some tombs and museums charge a small camera fee.

Cancellation policy

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Cancellations inside 24 hours are non-refundable, but we will always try to move your date instead.
