Overview

Half an hour's sail from Hurghada, protected Giftun Island has the whitest sand on Egypt's Red Sea coast and a reef you can swim out to from the beach. The day is built around two snorkelling stops on the reefs around the island, followed by a few hours on the beach at Orange Bay, with sun loungers and a bar.

These reefs are shallow, warm and sheltered, so they suit children and anyone snorkelling for the first time. An instructor stays in the water for anyone who wants a hand, and life vests cost nothing. An open buffet lunch is served on the boat at anchor.

    Hotel pickup

    Depart the marina

    Second reef stop

    A deeper reef along the east side of the island.
