Overview
The lunch is the point of this one. It is cooked the same morning by the family of the boat's captain, brought down to the mooring in covered pots, and laid out on the deck table while you sail: molokhia with rice, mahshi, a tray of grilled chicken, salad, bread still warm, and rice pudding to finish.
This is home cooking rather than restaurant cooking, which means it is better and slightly less predictable. Tell us in advance about anything you do not eat and the family will cook around it — vegetarians are easy here, and often eat better than everyone else.
Two hours under sail, in the middle of the day when the river is quiet and the breeze on the water is the coolest place in Cairo.
